Statement Jewellery in Singapore: Pinwheel Jewels

Shop fabulous statement jewellery, cuffs and more at this online gem
Online retailer Pinwheel Jewels is a new company that curates designer collections from all parts of the globe and makes them available in Singapore. Newly opened in July 2013, the brands are otherwise quite hard to find here, and you’ll find a mix of veteran designers as well as upcoming artists from all parts of the world including the USA, Spain, Israel and Japan.

The various jewellery collections in store bridge a gap between fine jewellery and high-street fashion jewellery - think hard wearing statement pieces which look and feel special. I often buy statement jewellery because a piece can instantly transform an outfit and express your mood. For example, if I want to give my plain LBD an edge for a night out I'll put on a spiked or studded necklace and heels. Its also relatively inexpensive plus I feel I'm a bit too young and carefree to be wearing diamonds and fine jewellery anyway (my wallet is also that much happier).

One label which has caught my eye is JOYO, an eco-friendly brand that makes handcrafted jewellery from sustainable materials as and where possible. The beautiful cuff photographed above is crafted with laser-cut leaf details, and  has a lining made from 100% recycled material, as well as a wooden veneer sourced from sustainable wood. The bracelet itself adds textural interest to an outfit – I’d pair it with a white cotton midi dress and wedges for a day to night look.

Another of my favourite labels in store is Kenneth Jay Lane. I’ve never known anywhere to get hold of any of his designs in Singapore before until now! His costume jewellery is famous world wide – even Lady Gaga is a fan. If you love statement, embellished and individual pieces, you should take a look at the full collection here.

Two of my favourite pieces are the Gold Branch Ivory Cuff, (which I was wearing at Fide Fashion Weeks last month) and the Jade and Rhinestone black Deco Cuff - pure glamour!

Had to! Lady Gaga in her KJL pieces

I also wore this statement beaded cluster necklace [pictured above] to last week's store opening at Tory Burch and it really lifted my otherwise understated outfit of dark denim jeans, a black blazer and heels and got lots of oohs and ahhs!

I think Pinwheel Jewels are doing a great thing and filling a gap in the market. The prices aren't ridiculous and you are getting exactly what you pay for. Its also great to see their latest addition is a local Singapore designer WoonHung, who hand makes pretty & delicate drop earrings perfect for a bohemian day look or night out.

FYI, Pinwheel Jewels also offers free shipping in Singapore, and free returns if you aren’t satisfied with your item within 7 days. So, if you make the wrong choice you can buy with confidence. They also take international orders with decent delivery rates.

  1. Excellent collection I must say, but I will also say that the price is bit high; I think you could work out on that then you can get more end customers.

  4. A necklace can be a gold, silver, metallic or another other material in a round or oval shape to be worn around a person’s neck. When you chose a necklace, be sure that it is strong and appropriately sized so it does not wear out early. Always go in for a necklace with suits your style

Oversized cardigans, large bulky bangle bracelets and long feather earrings are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to this trend.
