|River Island arrives back on Singapore’s shores!|
I must say, one of the main things I miss about living in London is the shopping. Oxford street, Selfridges, Harrods, my local high street…I guess you ‘don’t know what you got until its gone’ right? Thats why I thought it was such great news when I received the info that Zalora, one of Asia’s main online shopping platforms, was bringing in the latest collection from River Island. I heard that their physical store got taken out from ION Orchard in 2010, so I’m sure this launch will definitely fill a void.
They had a fabulous launch event at the Mini Cooper showroom last month, and I was excited to shop the collection. The campaign images (seen above and below) had a great Asian twist with the models eating (or should I say, playing with) dim sum, and posing outside a local bakery.
There are some cute pieces available from the new range, including some of my favourites: this colour block maxi dress (perfect for a beach to bar look) this oriental neoprene top, studded nude court shoes (because who doesn’t need another pair of great nude shoes – elongate those legs ladies!) and last but not least this great contrast trim biker jacket, perfect for layering or wearing over the shoulders during those indoor events when the blasting air-con can get pretty freezing! Obviously, I have to think of pieces that are Singapore appropriate (no leather pants or jackets for me!), but I think they’ve done quite well over all with the curation for our humid climate.
Also, for those from London, the collection is hardly marked up at all, which I think is a huge bonus considering some chains like ZARA here are nearly three times the price of the UK. You can view the full available collection here.
Below I’m wearing my first and foremost favourite piece from the new River Island collection, this gorgeous Oriental Border Print Kimono. Everyone knows by now that I love colour & prints, and kimonos are so easy to just throw on over virtually anything – as you can see it really jazzed up my very simple outfit of vintage denim shorts and a white Zara shirt. My sandals are by one of my favourite Thai designer Mosstories (obsessed), sunnies by Polaroid and necklace from Pinwheel Jewels.
Some of you may also recognise this little bag as I’ve already featured it on my instagram – this is one of the Phillip Lim for Target collaboration Mini Pashli bags. My better half was in Portland at the time of the launch and managed to snag two of the bags for me, but this one pretty much hasn’t left my side. Isn’t it adorable? I went for the small size as I’ve been planning on buying the medium Pashli as a Christmas gift – to myself of course. 😉 If anyone in Singapore wants to get their hands on a piece, Ebay is your best, and probably only bet.
